Submitting Work for an Event

 

 

 

HOW TO SUBMIT WORK

  1. Buy a ‘Writer Submission’ ticket to one of our events. 
  2. Send us an email with 1000 words of your story attached in .doc form. Ensure that you include the order number printed on your ticket in the subject line of the email.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

BSFC organisers will read all entries and select one writer to read at the relevant event based on merit.

All those who submit work will be informed about whether or not they have been selected 7 days before the event.

Everyone who submits work will receive brief feedback on their writing from author and BSFC co-organiser Adrian Selby within one week of the event taking place.

FAQ

Q. Can I submit more than one piece per event?

A. No, we’re afraid not. It’s one ticket, one submission per person.

Q. Can I submit the same piece to the next event if I wasn’t selected to read?

A. You may. However, we advise you to at least revise it first or you won’t benefit from the feedback. 

Q. I can’t come to the event. Can I still submit a piece?

A. If you know you won’t be able to attend the event, please don’t buy a ticket or submit work. Leave the slot for someone who can attend. 

Q. Can I get a refund on my Writer Submission ticket if I can’t make it to the event?

A. We don’t offer refunds on Writer Submission tickets if you have submitted a piece of work. Even if you can’t attend you will still get your feedback. However, if you haven’t submitted work yet, we may be able to transfer your ticket to someone on the waitlist. Please contact us to learn more.

Q. When will I learn if I’ve been selected to read at the event?

We will email you 7 days before the event date to inform you of whether you have been selected or not.

Q. When will I get my feedback?

A. We will do our best to get feedback to everyone before the event takes place. However, due to time restrictions, you may not get feedback until a few days after it takes place. We guarantee that everyone will get feedback at least 7 days after the event takes place.
